Congressional Art Competition

February 25, 2014

Every year Members of the U.S. House of Representatives, committed to our cultural heritage, join together to recognize the creative spirit of American high school students in a nationwide art competition. This contest, An Artistic Discovery – The Annual Congressional Art Competition, is implemented by Members of Congress in their respective Congressional Districts and features paintings, drawings, and prints. Each Member brings a winning entry back to Washington, D.C. to be displayed in a corridor of the U.S. Capitol.

Each student will be allowed to submit up to one entry to this district-wide competition. All district entries must be submitted to our District Offices by Tuesday, April 29, 2014.

Students selected as District 1st place winners are also invited to attend a reception in Washington D.C. to be held in the summer.

I look forward to working with you on the 33rd Annual Artistic Discovery 2014. If assistance is needed in delivering the artwork or if you have additional questions, please contact my Outreach Director, Gigi Ritchey via email at This email address is being protected from spambots.
