Nominates Johnston and Sampson Students for Washington Workshops

U.S. Congressman Mike McIntyre recently nominated Ezekiel Powell of North Johnston High School and Alex Purcell of Clinton High School to attend Washington Workshops, a one-week leadership program on government and politics hosted in Washington, D.C. This program allows students to learn about the United States Congress, U.S. Supreme Court, Embassies, and Executive agencies by meeting with Members of Congress, government officials, diplomats, lobbyists, and professors.

In addition to nominating Ezekiel and Alex for participation in this program, on Wednesday June 26th Congressman McIntyre addressed all Washington Workshops participants on the topic of “Dreams, Dedication, and Determination.”

Congressman McIntyre has volunteered in Eastern North Carolina’s schools for thirty years and has co-sponsored legislation to promote civic education in schools.
