McIntyre Announces $8.5 Million for Dosher Memorial
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Mike McIntyre announced today that Dosher Memorial Hospital has received $8,500,000 in federal funds for improvements to the hospital.
Congressman McIntyre stated, “Helping our community hospitals improve their services and facilities is critical to patients and families. These federal funds will allow Dosher to do this in very practical and tangible ways, and these are our taxpaying dollars coming home to make a difference. Congratulations to all who worked to secure these funds!”
USDA Rural Development has awarded Dosher a low-interest loan of $8,500,000 to convert all the existing 25 acute care patient beds into private rooms for this Critical Access Hospital located in Southport. Sixteen of the new rooms will have renovations and upgrades including new toilet rooms, new handwalls, new patient care areas, new finishes, windows and mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. One new room is equipped for patient isolation. The other eight rooms are new rooms and are larger than the existing rooms and allow for adequate handicapped accessibility and high patient acuity.
Congressman McIntyre is a senior member of the House Agriculture Committee.
