McIntyre Participates in Capital Soccer Classic to Benefit Youth Sports

Washington, D.C.- U.S. Congressman Mike McIntyre joined fellow Members of Congress and former U.S. National team players in the second annual Capital Soccer Classic, a charity event benefiting youth sports after school programs.

The well-attended charity event helped to raise money and awareness of Soccer for Success, a free afterschool program that uses soccer as a tool to address children's health issues and juvenile delinquency, while promoting healthy lifestyles in urban underserved communities.

Congressman McIntyre said, “This is yet another wonderful opportunity to support youth sports which builds character, physical fitness, and good sportsmanship.”

McIntyre led the team as captain to a close victory that concluded with a penalty kick shootout.  Rep. McIntyre was joined on the field by former U.S. National Soccer team member, Kimberley Crabbe, currently a resident of Wilmington, who is actively involved in the Cape Fear youth soccer program.

Representative McIntyre is Co-Chairman and Co-Founder of the Congressional Caucus on Youth Sports, and has been a constant advocate for supporting youth sports as a tool for children to build character and healthy lifestyles.
