McIntyre To Serve As Co-Chair of the Congressional Boating Caucus
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Mike McIntyre will be one of the Co-Chairs of the Congressional Boating Caucus in the 113th Congress. This caucus is a bi-partisan group of U.S. Representatives and Senators who advocate for the job-producing interests of the recreational boating industry as well as economic conditions, boating safety, and trade opportunities.
Congressman McIntyre stated, “Boating is big business in North Carolina, and it is important we do all we can to protect the boating industry and help it grow. I am honored to serve in this role to help boaters and the boat business.”
In 2011 in North Carolina, retail sales of new powerboats, boat motors, trailers, and accessories totaled more than $400 million. North Carolina ranked 10th in the U.S. in boat registrations and has 1,165 recreational and marine manufacturing businesses contributing 13,180 jobs.
Joining Congressman McIntyre as Co-Chairs are Congressman Candice Miller of Michigan, Senator Richard Burr of North Carolina, and Senator Joe Donnelly of Indiana.
